OWON: To boldly go?

Nasa's new X3 ion thruster engine could carry humans to deep space

X3 has been designed by researchers at the University of Michigan in collaboration with Nasa and the US Air Force.

Nasa has been working on a plasma engine and their latest one has broken records in terms of power and thrust. Dubbed the X3 thruster, the latest development in technology might make it possible for the space agency to scale it up to useful levels soon and many hope that the this could be used to ferry humans to deep space.

The technology is on the right track to enable its use in full-sized, manned space missions in less than 20 years, reports X3 was designed by researchers at the University of Michigan in collaboration with Nasa and the US Air Force, says the report.

The X3 is a Hall thruster, a type of ion thruster that creates propulsion by firing a stream of electrically charged atoms, called plasma, out of a nozzle. The electricity used to achieve this could come from solar panels. A recent demonstration of the X3 at Nasa's Glenn Research Center reportedly broke several records.

Apart from using electricity to generate thrust, this engine of the future could also potentially accelerate spacecraft to higher speeds than chemical propulsion rockets. This is one of the main reasons why there is so much research around this type of engine...

25 cancer stem cell killing foods smarter than Chemo & radiation

A new scientific review identifies 25 of the top foods and herbs which kill the cancer stem cells at the root cause of cancer malignancy.

There are thousands of natural compounds that have been studied with demonstrable anti-cancer activity (check out over 600 on our cancer research database), but only a small subset of these have been proven to target and kill the cancer stem cells which lie at the root of cancer malignancy. Turmeric, for instance, we have featured a number of times for this “smart kill” property of targeting just the heart of cancerous tumors. More recently, ginger has been found in pre-clinical research to contain a compound up to 10,000 times more effective than the chemotherapy drug Taxol at killing breast cancer stem cells. Even common food like blueberry have special cancer killing properties, as discussed in a previous article: Research: Radiotherapy Causes Cancer, Blueberry Kills It.

A new study published in the journal Anticancer Research titled, “Natural Products That Target Cancer Stem Cells,” has made our job much easier of identifying this special category of cancer killers by reviewing the extant literature on the topic and listing the top 25 substances in this category. They are listed here below, along with some of their commonly recognizable dietary sources:

OWON: Very interesting!

Once this is done, should we believe that it will not mandatory in all Chinese phones? Once, the software is perfected it can be coded into a chip set without you knowing it's there. Since when is public disclosure and privacy a right for the public? What is scary is the very real propensity to abuse the data and share it for purposes other than what is intended. Let alone the real likelihood that your face will be in a government database to be used as they see fit.

True Biometric scanning is far more invasive than a picture of your face and has vast potential to be abused in ways not imagined, from simple identification to selective screening by facial features and much more.

We should be very careful of such technology and it’s so called need.

Give an inch and they always mile.

I Spy: Beijing developing bio-metric technology to identify 1.3B faces

The Chinese Ministry of Public Security has partnered with a Shanghai-based security company on a project to accurately detect the identities of the nation’s 1.3 billion citizens with facial recognition software, the South China Morning Post reports.

Ivision, the contractor winner, actually won rights to work on the project in 2016 but only confirmed the news to SCMP this week. A spokesperson for the company refused to tell the Post more details about the project's progress, which is confidential. Beyond confirming that the firm had won the contract, a company spokesman said "we have no information for public disclosure."

Face-scanning technology is becoming more viable in practical applications by the day, but the jury is still out on precisely what impact the technology will have on societies around the world.

Apple's iPhone X will reportedly take advantage of 3D sensors and infrared tech on the device's front-facing camera to allow users to log in without entering a password. One implication is that as long as the phone is on, so too will the phone's face-scanning technology be, which sparks concern among privacy advocates...

OWON: End of the Cabal Imperialists. This ship has sailed and each week brings new evidence Turkey has turned it’s back on the West and the dollar.

Given some time, Turkey will seek to be part of the SCO. Watch how many more will follow. How will the US cope as a Third World nation crippled by debt?

CONFIRMED: Turkey and Iran to conduct bilateral trade in national currencies

Economic common sense meets new geo-strategic realities.

In yet another sign that Turkey’s Eurasian pivot is about cold hard economics, rather than more fleeting ideological concerns, Turkey and Iran have officially announced that future bilateral trade will be conducted in Iranian Rial and Turkish Lira. This represents yet another blow to Dollar hegemony, as countries ranging from Russia, China and Venezuela, begin exploring trading options that are not dependant on the United States.

According to Valiollah Seif, the governor of the Central Bank of Iran, this gives the two countries the potential to treble the current level of bilateral trade which stands at $10 billion per annum, up to $30 billion.

A global effort among countries whose economies aren’t directly tied in to the US financial and monetary systems, to drop the Dollar and begin trading in local and regional currencies, has long been a priority among states that are effectively getting ripped off by Dollar derived exchange rates and practices.

September’s BRICS summit in Xiamen China placed a heavy emphasis on the need for BRICS nations and their partners beyond, to begin developing and implementing different means of exchange than the US Dollar...
